FAQ

Things people ask before they book.

Can’t find your question?
Speak to our team – Mon-Friday, 9am-5:30pm.

Not in the same universal sense for every non-surgical practitioner across the UK. The clearest general legal insurance requirement for many businesses is employers’ liability if you employ staff. However, Save Face and other sector voices have been clear that appropriate indemnity protection should form part of safe practice, and government policy is moving towards tighter oversight of the sector.

Yes, you should arrange it before you begin treating paying clients, and ideally once your training path, treatment list and business model are clear enough to present accurately to an insurer.

Yes, your Medical Malpractice policy covers you to provide your treatments anywhere in the UK.

Yes, subject to certain criteria and you prescribing to medical professionals only.

No, we cover medical professionals only.

No, the policy doesn’t cover refunds. However, our Medico-Legal team can advise on handling complaints before they result in a claim.

Policies are underwritten on a claims-made basis. Therefore, cover must be in force at the time a claim is notified in addition to when the incident happened, for indemnity to be provided. It is therefore very important not to have any breaks in cover or cancel your policy without discussing your options with ourselves. If you need to cancel your policy, you may be entitled to free run-off cover for a minimum of 3 years, provided you meet the insurer’s criteria. For example, in respect of death, maternity, retirement and permanent disability.
